Description

A bright and airy 2 bedroom 2nd floor, flat tucked away in the heart of Olde London 3 minutes walk from the magnificent and iconic St Pauls Cathedral at the brow of the hill and the River Thames at the bottom.

A short stroll takes you to the Millennium Bridge for the Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the London Eye, and the buzz of the Southbank.
To the East, the City with its blend of old buildings and state of the art high rises, the Bank of England, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
To the West, the West End - Buckingham Palace, Soho, Oxford Street, theatres, clubs, shops, noise, crowds etc.
All easily accessible on foot or by an abundance of public transport, or - our favourite - the brilliant bike hire scheme known locally as "Boris bikes". (£2 to hire for 24 hours!)

Blackfriars Station is 2 minutes walk away giving access to both the Underground and main line rail network, north to Kings Cross and the international trains, or south if you just fancy a day out on the coast in Brighton.

A popular stopping off point for London ghost walks the area is all little streets and alleyways largely ignored and unknown even to the hundreds of City workers who fill the neighbourhood during working hours.

Without a doubt the most striking feature of this property is the huge sash windows which run the whole way round the curving frontage of the building giving an exceptional light and airy feel to every room..

Beautiful art deco mirrors in both double bedrooms accentuate the feel of space. Faux chandeliers in the polished wood hallway give a bright, friendly welcome and lead you to the main living room with it's oversized clock face (on loan from Big Ben) and its mix of colourful and eccentric furnishings.
Double beds in each bedroom, and a futon sofa in the living room which folds out to provide an extra double bed if required, allows the flat to sleep 6 people.

To keep you in touch with the 21st century a 42" TV and broadband are provided. Kitchen equipped to cover most needs - fridge/freezer, coffe machine, dish washer, washing machine, gas hob, electric oven, toaster, microwave and all the usual mod cons.
Shower over bath. Small TV in main bed.

There is a lift so accessible for elderly, disabled or just plain lazy.

Just one thing to be aware of - you're right in the middle of the City. It can be noisy! There is a pub ( a lovely little pub, "Shaws Booksellers") on the ground floor of the building, another right across the road and yet another just down the hill. They never stay open late and, apart from one, are closed at the weekend. However barrels are sometimes delivered at crack of dawn usually with much crashing and shouting.
Also St Pauls Cathedral, barely 200 yards away as the crow flies, has a fine set of bells on it which are rung regularly and especially on Sunday mornings! Personally we love 'em but if they're not your cup of tea then maybe this place is not for you.
(Oh and for some reason the area seems to be a magnet for hundreds of squawky shouty seagulls!)
On the plus side the whole area quietens down at weekends and the little streets and alleyways are mostly empty and peaceful.
Also, generally the neighbourhood is very safe and quiet compared to the West End so you don't have to watch your back every time you leave the house!

Basically hard to beat in terms of convenience for pretty much anywhere in Town, so if you want a few days sightseeing and a cosy retreat at the end of the day then this is for you.
